The Inauguration of Student Union & Fresher's Day at Annai Veilankanni's College at Saidapet are to be held on 29thJuly 2011. Dr. C. Joe Arun, Correspondence & Secretary, Loyola College will be the Chief Guest. The Student Union members will take pledge to serve the students and institution. It will be followed by Fresher's Day celebration. The first year students will showcase their talents.


Annai Veilankannis College of Arts & Science and College of Education celebrated their Eighth and Second Graduation Day on Saturday at 10.00 am in the college premises. S. Peter, Founder-Chairman of Matha Group of Educational Institutions was the Chief guest. Dr. S.Devaraj, Founder-Chairman Annai Veilankannis Group of Education Institutions welcomed the gathering and declared the graduation day open. Dr. Celestina Jeyasingh, Principal, Annai Velankanni's College read the report. The Chief Guest S. Peter in his graduation address congratulated the university rank holders and the graduates and wishes them all success in life. He praised the management for their self-less service in uplifting the rural youth to be equipped in various skills along with academics, to be responsible citizens, effective and efficient leader in every sphere of life. He distributed medals to the University Rank Holders and meritorious students. 400 students received their degrees. The Vice-Chairman Mrs. Delphin Devaraj, Dr. Dev Anand, Secretary, Dr, Johnny Christopher, Director AnnaiVeilankanni's Group of Education Institutions, parents of the graduates and well wishers of the college were present on the occasion.


  • 8th Convocation day is scheduled to be on 16th July 2011 (saturday) at 10.00 am. S. Peter, Founder-Chairman of Matha Group of Educational Institutions - Higher Education Department Tamil Nadu Government has agreed to give away the diplomas to the passed out students. About 300 students will be receiving their diplomas.
  • Rank holders & top scorers will be felicitated with cash awards & medals.
  • An Orientation programme was organized on 6/7/2011 at 9.00 A.M. to welcome the first year students who have joined AVC family. About 500 students with their parents attended the Fresher's Orientation Programme.
  • The Chairman welcomed the gathering and Secretary Dr. Dev Anand highlighted on AVC - A legacy. Dr. Sylendra Babu- Inspector General of Police - North Zone presided over the function and motivated the students by his inspiring speech. He also advised the students to focus on their ambition & to develop their attitude.
  • The Vice-Principal explained to the freshers and students the rules and regulations of the college. Some parents of the seniors gave their feedback about the college. Few parents of the freshers expressed their expectations from the college.
  • Heads of the department briefed the students about their course.
  • College Reopens on 15th June 2011, Wednesday for Second And Third Years.
  • Nearly 2500 students from 92 colleges in and around chennai participated.
  • About 500 students were shortlisted by 15 companies for appointment.
  • Dr. Raja Hussain, Director, USAB was the chief guest.
  • Dr. Devaraj, Chairman of AVC, welcomed the gathering.
  • Mrs. Clara Shanthi, Lecturer, proposed the vote of thanks.
  • University Practical Exams Commenced on March 14, 2011.
  • Theory Exams starts from April 01, 2011.
  • All the Value Added Courses got over on March 16, 2011.
  • Farewell for different departments were organised on 18th March, 2011.
  • The Last Working Day for this even semester is on 28th March, 2011.

  • Decennial Celebration was Organised from Feb 23rd to Feb 25th, 2011.
  • On 23rd Feb, 2011 a National Seminar was organised by Department of Commerce, Department of Information and System Management, Department of Computer Science and Department of Business Administration.
  • The topic was on Changing Dynamics in the field of Commerce, Information Technology and Business Administration.
  • Cr. Dr. G. Thiruvasagam, Vice Chancellor of Madras University delivered the inaugural and Key note Address.
  • He requested the teachers to revamp the syllabus and the students to update their knowledge.
  • He insisted on improving the soft skills of students.
  • He advocated changes in the existing syllabus to suit the needs of Corporate and IT sectors.
  • The first technical session was chaired by Dr. E.Dharmaraj, Dean and co-chaired by Prof.Devananthan, Consultant, Business and Management.
  • The first three best students were awarded a cash prize of Rs.1000/-
  • In Commerce and Business:
    • Ms. P.Rasathi, Ms. M.Aishwarya - Sri Sairam Institute of Technology
    • Ms. R. Avinash - Loyola College
    • Ms. M. Uma and Ms. M. Rakhee - SS Sudarbhai Shasun Jain College for women
  • In Information Technology:
    • Mr. M. S. Srinath & Mr. Nivas- DMI College of Engineering
    • Mr. Shivranjan Kolvankar - Vel's University
    • Mr. G.D.B. Vishal Adithya, SRM Arts and Science College
  • More than 300 delegates from Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Andhra consisting of Students, Research Scholars, and Academicians attended the Seminar.
  • 2nd Day - ASTRAL 2011 - THE INTERCOLLEGIATE CULTURAL took place.
  • It was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Jagath Casper Raj, Founder and Managing Director of Tamil Maiyam.
  • He highlighted the imporatnce of traditional, folk and other cultural performances of Tamilnadu.
  • He motivated the students to give importance to tamil culture and heritage.
  • Celebrities from FIlm Industry and TV channels entertained the Audiences by their wonderful performances.
  • 30 Colleges participated in the Onstage and Off-Stage events.
  • SDNB Vaishnav College for women, Chromepet banged the overall Champions Trophy.
  • 3rd Day- Valediction for Decennial Events and College Day were celebrated.
  • Dr. Jeppiar, Chancellor of SathyaBama University, was the chief guest.
  • Dr. Christudas Gandhi, IPS, Princiapl Secretary, Tamilnadu Energy
  • Development AGency gave the College Day Address and distributed the medals and prizes to the meritorius students.
  • Dr. S. Devaraj, Chairman of Annai Veilankannis College, welcomed the gathering.
  • Students and Staffs of AVC enthusiastically participated in all the events.
  • Dr. Prumila Newsam and Dr. Salma Salahuddin were felicitated and teachers who have complted ten years were also felicitated.
  • Cash awards were presented to the staff for producing centum results in their subjects and to those who had 100 percent attendace.
  • The best outgoing AVC boy and girl were awarded with cash and Medal.
    • Best AVC Boy: M.S.Lakshminarayanan Department of ISM
    • Best AVC Girl: L.Logeshwari, BCA
  • Apart from this, 10 AVC stars were chosen and given medals for their exemplary service to the college.
  • Best NSS Volunteers were also given prizes.
  • Dr. Celestina Jayasingh, Principal of AVC, read the Annual Report and Mrs. Ann Brazil Proposed the Vote of Thanks.
  • All the 3 days were indeed memorable days in the History of AVC
